Description
Poster for this 1976 biopic about the early days of Marilyn Monroe (aka Norma Jean Baker). The film portrayed a gritty vision of  Monroe's quest for stardom, the aspiring starlet being exploited shamelessly by the Hollywood machine. Poster artist Tom Chantrell re-creates one of Marilyn's trademark poses & provides the title script in day-glo neon to evoke a suitably retro feel. Though lookalike actress Misty Rowe was cast as Marilyn, Chantrell clearly draws inspiration from the actual Ms Monroe in his depiction. Having memorably illustrated the poster for Marilyn Monroe's 1956 film "Bus Stop", Chantrell was adept at translating Monroe's image to paper ("Bus Stop" double-crown poster image courtesy of www.moviepostermem.com).
