Description
Poster for this comedy-crime caper starring Michael Caine & Shirley MacLaine. The poster artist is unattributed but the artwork is clearly based on the US 1-Sheet poster (image courtesy of emovieposter.com). By the time "Gambit" hit the big screens, both Caine & MacLaine were established stars & hence the simple images of the two leads was thought sufficient to entice the public. Having graced the screens in "Zulu" (1964) & "The Ipcress File" (1965), the hard-working Michael Caine had 3 major sucesses in 1966, these being "Alfie", "The Ipcress File & "Gambit".
